Three riders met up for an 0845 start from the village of Compton Abdale in the Cotswolds in surprisingly cold conditions after the milder weather of the previous 2 days. A nice steep climb at the beginning took our minds off the -2 degrees temperture though, and we were somewhat warmer by the time we reached the top!
An enjoyable XC ride in bright sunshine then followed, through the town of Northleach, and villages such as Farmington and Cold Aston (shame about the closed pub, hope it reopens one day), before returning to Compton Abdale, where a good supply of running water in the stream provided bike washing facilities to remove the mud gathered almost exclusively from 2 nearby fields used as a short cut (I’m sure we’ve tried those before with the same results!)
Well worth the effort, and nice to escape the fog in Gloucester and Cheltenham to spend a few hours in the sunshine of the Cotswolds. Thanks guys, great ride!
